As far as the outfits, Matt Avery looked around LA and noticed everybody trying to be Guns and Roses, dressed like bums. The pages of BAM Magazine were plastered with glam Hollywood hair bands, with no identity. Avery summized, if you "take that guy outta that picture and put him in another band's picture...it's interchangeable...With The Touch, you can't take one of us out of our picture and put it in another band's picture and vice versa...It wouldn't look right." These guys look cool in all black, right? Musically, Avery rightly suggested that bands mistook gritty hard driving music with toughness of character...false macho (Hey there's a great band name...False Machio). Avery was out to prove that bubblegum dudes might be tougher and got way more pussy. He humorously remembers being at a rehearsal room in North Hollywood, and having the rehearsal room attendant guy say, "Man, you guys are the loudest band we've ever heard in here, and you're playing Osmond songs!"...Nuf said. Very Cool. Not saying that all band members were totally behind this program ...
