The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital is the sole beneficiary of these fundraising efforts, and has received more than $78 million from THON since 1977. These funds support innovative and sustainable research while providing family support "For The Kids". THON culminates each February with a 46-hour dance marathon that the pediatric cancer patients and their families attend - being cheered on by over 15000 student volunteers who do not sit or sleep, so that these children can escape the horrors of their battles. 2012 marks THON's 40th Anniversary; a milestone and hope that there will one day be a cure.
