This is my entry for the DJTechTools MIDI Fighter contest for February 2010. I'm also giving the first peek at what i've been doing with my Ableton Live DJ set that i've been working on for what feels like forever =) Tip to anyone just getting into Ableton Live for performing: Give yourself limitations because the possibilities are ENDLESS! The Live set incorporates Lucifer VST (Steve Duda rules), BentoSan's Smart Mixer, dummy clips and MIDI assignments re-assigning about 85% of the APC40's out of the box functionality, and all sorts of effects from Tarekith, Jethroe and Ableton (both stock and custom). It also incorporates some very poor camera-work, sorry about my fat head in the way, i'll do better next time. Video was recorded using the Aiptek A-HD and the audio was recorded via re-sampling mode in Ableton Live. The audio was then matched to the video in arrangement view of Ableton Live and exported as a quicktime vid. Really appreciate Ean Golden and the guys at DJTechTools for all the information i've gotten from their site over the past year. Same goes for the Ableton Live boards! lastly, thanks to my roommate Neha who let me upload this on her laptop when my laptop wireless adapter died!

This is a rare tape recording with a few photos from a Hip Hop club in London called Spats from way back in 1984 or 85 which use to be on saturday in Oxford street i belive it is by DJ Fingers and in my opinion is the best live mix that i have ever heard (still sends shivers down my spine) the recording is quite poor quality as it was taped on mono dictaphone hidden in my pocket (i wasnt the only one as i can still rember seeing little red lights flashing in time with the music coming from people bags) After Spats we would go to Groove Records and try and buy the latest imports that we had just listen to then head to Covent Gardens to watch all the breakdancing. I have been meaning to add this to youtube for ages before the photo's fade and the tape gets damaged The two main tracks are by Rick James and The Magic Disco Machine Hope you like if so i will add some more Ian old skool fan

Is a remix of a 'Ketsarku Mozgalom' single from an album 'Venetian Snares' by a 'Rossz Csillag Alatt Szueletett' which was released in 2005 on the Planet Mu label. PS you absolutely have to have proper headphones to listen to this one (with Bass Enhancement) About: Inspired by an earlier journey of Aaron Funk's to Hungary, the album title and all of the track names are in Hungarian; Rossz csillag alatt született translates to "Born Under a Bad Star". Stylistically, the album consists of classical strings and trumpets combined with chaotic breakbeats. It is arguably Funk's most critically acclaimed work. According to Tiny Mix Tapes, it ranked at #25 on the Top 25 Albums of 2005. The concept of the album came when Aaron Funk imagined himself as a pigeon on Budapest's Királyi Palota (Royal Palace). Its third track, "Öngyilkos vasárnap" is a cover of the song "Szomorú vasárnap" ("Gloomy Sunday") by Hungarian composer Rezső Seress, which has been referred to as the Hungarian suicide song. According to urban legend, Seress's song has inspired the suicide of multiple persons, including his fiancée. The song was reportedly banned in both the United States and Hungary, but has been covered by many artists, including Billie Holiday. Her vocals are sampled in this track. The album also samples various pieces of classical music: - The first movement of Béla Bartók's fourth string quartet, in track two. - The second of Igor Stravinsky's "3 Pieces for Clarinet", in track five. - The ...
