La Sinfonía n.º 5 en do menor, Opus 67, compuesta por Beethoven es una de las composiciones más populares y conocidas de la música clásica. Sinfonía que empieza con las características cuatro notas 'ta-ta-ta-taa', repetidas dos veces. Consta de cuatro movimientos que comienzan con un allegro, seguido de un andante y finaliza con un scherzo ininterrumpido, que comprende las dos últimas partes. Desde su estreno el 22 de diciembre de 1808 en un monumental concierto de cuatro horas, la obra adquirió fama y popularidad que continúa en la actualidad. Una magnifica pieza musical considerada una de las obras más importantes de todos los tiempos. Aquí os muestro una de las mejores interpretaciones de esta obra, realizada por la artista burlesque Michelle L'amour, una actuacion al nivel casi del gran Leonard Bersntein en el concierto a favor de Amnistía Internacional de 1976 con la que es considerada la mejor orquesta de radio en el mundo, la Orquesta Sinfónica de la Radio de Baviera. +Info: elzo-meridianos.blogspot.com

En este bloque número 67 se mantienen dentro del año 1983. Un año clave para algunos intérpretes de la canción ochentera. Nuevas promesas van saliendo a la luz de la popularidad. El reflejo de los últimos años de los 70's poco a poco va quedando como un espejísmo que aparentemente permanecerá para las siguientes décadas. Chris Montez (born Ezekiel Christopher Montanez; 17 January 1943), is an American singer. Montez grew up in Hawthorne, California, influenced by the Latino-flavored music of his community and the success of Ritchie Valens. In 1962, he recorded the single "Let's Dance" on Monogram Records. It went to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and to #2 on the UK Singles Chart. The follow-up, "Some Kinda Fun", was a lesser hit. However, both records sold over one million copies, and were awarded gold discs. Montez toured with Clyde McPhatter, Sam Cooke, The Platters, and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and The Beatles opened a London concert for him while performing with Tommy Roe. Montez returned to the recording studio in 1965, this time at A&M Records. Montez was searching for the same rock and roll formula that would replicate the success of "Let's Dance". During a recording session, A&M co-founder Herb Alpert (who co-produced Montez's first A&M album) suggested that Montez try a different approach: a middle of the road, soft ballad sound. Though reluctant at first, Montez agreed to go along with his mentor's suggestion. "Call Me" (a Tony Hatch composition first recorded by Petula Clark) was the first single released from his 1966 A&M album, The More I See You. The title single from the album, sung in a soft, very high tenor range and played on primarily adult-formatted radio stations, confused some disc jockeys, who were unfamiliar with Montez's past work. SWEETS recorded on the Los Angeles Soultown label. The vinyl release is dated around 1966/67. The singers are possibly linked with the same girl group that recorded for the Valiant label in 1965...a trio that included Felice Taylor and her sisters Norma and Darlene. The Soultown label was run by aspiring LA. producer and impresario Bobby Sanders, influenced by Berry Gordy's success with Motown. The Sweets flip, 'Satisfy Me Baby', was a popular uptempo dancer on the Northern soul scene in the mid 1970's. Consequently it gained a reissued pressing on a simpler designed label. Other artists who have recorded on the same label include; Tempos, Delicates, Little Helen, Ray Agee, Travis McKinley, McKinley Twins and New Young Hearts. Also, actor Burt Ward --'Robin' in the 60's Batman series. Bobby Sanders also recorded 'The Way I Feel' on the Pick-A-Hit (100) record label.

A/P News on this Saturday May 7, 2011 John Walker of The Walker Brothers Dies at 67 Musician John Walker, the guitarist and vocalist for the seminal '60s and '70s British trio, The Walker Brothers, has died. He was 67.Walker died Saturday in his Los Angeles home after battling liver cancer, his personal assistant told The Associated Press.Walker was born John Maus in the United States. He joined Scott Engel and Gary Leeds to form The Walker Brothers, and they each adopted the surname Walker, though none of them were related. The band moved to England where it had instant success with the song "Love Her" in 1964. The groups other hits included "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore," "Make it Easy on Yourself" and "My Ship Is Comin' In." The band toured the world, sold more than 23 million records, and also appeared on many popular British television shows in the '60s, including Ready, Set, Go and Top of the Pops.Walker returned to the US in the 1980s, but continued to tour in England every year as part of the "Silver '60s" show. Walker's final concert appearance was this March in Los Angeles."He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and artiste," reads a statement on Walker's website.
