BETTY BOOP ! A-BOO-BOOP DE BOOP !! Bernard Wright rocked that shit. I dunno if it was a moog or a prophet or a Yamaha CS or whatever, but he did a coupla synth bass playing on those classic GRP albums that's the shiznit. I'll try to record 'em all as I find em incredible. As it is a fatass synth sound, it is possible (and mo' fun !) to play it on bass with the appropriate effects (whereas squeaky clean late 80s funk or 90s rnb NEEDS key bass... hmm might post some key bass soon.) Try this: turn the tone knob to 0, play every note as high up on the neck as you can (the higher the boomier), use a boss octaver with 100% first octave and 55% mix, very slight touch of chorus, straight into the board with 60 hz and 350hz boost. Then dig in HARD and voila ! BTW You need to check out the music video of this thang. It's one of the few music videos where EVERYBODY is COOL. And I mean it. Just look at Bernard Wright's shades ! And that drummer is too funky ! Not to mention the one who "looks like betty boop..." ;-)

Description :
I tried to make this song sound less clipped but it really is clipped beyond hope. It's not really the bass that's clipped but mostly higher frequencies around 350 Hz. MAKE SURE TO USE HEADPHONES OR LISTEN WITH A SUBWOOFER, since the bass isn't clipped but has to cover up the higher frequency clipping. For copyright freaks, I don't have any rights to the song.

1. I played a G4 on my cornet (F4 concert). Note that I have not played in 10 years and I wasn't good then. The spectrum of that tone is shown. 2. Then a pure 350 Hz sine wave is sounded. First, the fundamental is removed and then the fundamental and the 2nd harmonic are removed and the resulting sounds are presented. 3. We start at the other end of the spectrum and remove all power above 1600 Hz. This is a nice sounding tone that I wish I could produce.
