Description :
In the mid eighties, at the age of seventeen, Bukem discovered the joys of clubbing. The teenager regularly checked out the local soul clubs and legendary rare groove all dayers. During this time he also ran a jazz funk band. DJing however, was his main thing and by 1987 he gained something of a reputation for his sets. In 1990, LTJ Bukem got his first big break - at Raindance. Booked to play in front of a crowd of 10000… Bukem then ventured into the studio to record a track which was to become one of the most influential records of the era. This 12 titled Logical Progression surfaced on the newly formed Vinyl Mania imprint. At once anthemic and relaxing it offered the first true blueprint to Bukems sonic vision. By the time of his follow up to Logical Progression Bukem had set up his own imprint, Good Looking Records and its debut offering came in the shape of Demons Theme. Bukems next release was Apollo in 92, however his biggest breakthrough came with his next release Music in 1993. In 1994 Bukem unleashed 19.5 and the similarly epic Horizons. There were remixes, which included reworks of Jodecis Feenin and Michelle Gayles Sweetness and a collaboration with David Arnold on the infamous James Bond theme to Thunderball The start of the 21st century saw the release of his long awaited solo album Journey Inwards; a diverse and multi directional album of drum n bass, soul, downbeat and house tracks. He has also added to his impressive remixing portfolio with his ...

Description :
Louisiana swamp blues veteran Clarence Edwards was rediscovered in the '90s after a long hiatus from recording, and began to garner some of the recognition he deserved just prior to his unfortunately timed death. Edwards was born March 25, 1933, in Lindsay, LA, as one of 14 siblings. When his family moved into Baton Rouge, the 12-year-old Edwards began to learn the guitar by listening to old Charley Patton records. Sometime in his twenties, Edwards began playing the local blues circuit, initially joining a band called the Boogie Beats, which featured his brother Cornelius, Landry Buggs, and drummer Jackson Acox. Edwards also played with the Bluebird Kings, but his most notable (or, at least, frightening) experience on the circuit came one night when he was shot in the leg during an altercation outside the Silver Moon Club in Alsen. Apart from playing music, Edwards supported himself with farm work, and eventually landed a job at Thomas Scrap, where he worked for over 30 years. Edwards' first recording sessions were undertaken from 1959-1961, when he, his brother Cornelius, and violinist James "Butch" Cage recorded together for folk chronicler Harry Oster (see the Country Negro Jam Sessions album). In contrast to the traditional approach of those sessions, Edwards' next recordings -- done in 1970 for producer Mike Vernon -- were more conscious of contemporary trends; they've been issued on compilations like Louisiana Blues and Swamp Blues. Edwards remained largely silent ...

Created with www.mp32tube.com If today was not a crooked highway If tonight was not a crooked trail If tomorrow wasn't such a long time Then lonesome would mean nothin' to you at all Yes, and only if my own true love was waitin' If I could hear her heart a-softly poundin' Yes, and only if she was lyin' by me And I'd lie in my bed once again I can't see my reflection in the water I can't speak the sounds to show no pain I can't hear the echo of my footsteps Or remember the sounds of my own name Yes and only if my own true love was waitin' And if i could only hear her heart a-softly poundin' Yes and only if she was layin' by me And I'd lie in my bed once again There's beauty in that silver singin' river There's beauty in that rainbow in the sky But none of these and nothin' else can touch the beauty That I remember in my true loves eyes Yes and only if my own true love was waitin' If I could only hear her heart a-softly poundin' Yes and only if she was layin' by me And I'd lie in my bed once again

Lloyd Brevett (augus 1, 1931 .may 3, 2012) Always BIG-The Skatalites FUNDATION SKA ione of the founding members of The Skatalites Band, Lloyd Brevett is dead. Brevett died at the Andrews Memorial Hospital in St. Andrew this morning at the age of 80. In October 2001, he was conferred with Jamaica's fifth highest honour, the Order of Distinction and in October 2010, he was awarded the Silver Musgrave Medal for his contribution to music. The musician's son Okine Brevett was killed in February after collecting an award on his father's behalf at the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association Awards at Emancipation Park. At that time, the former upright bass player of The Skatalites was said to be too ill to collect the award. www.reggaechapter.com Lloyd Brevett, the upright bass player for the legendary Skatalites, has passed away at the age of 80 in St. Andrew's Parish, Jamaica. Brevett had been hospitalized a few weeks earlier due to a series of seizures and a stroke. While he was already in poor health, Lloyd's health began to decline following the tragic murder of his son, Okine, in February of 2012. Okine had just accepted an award on behalf of his father earlier that night, but the celebration was cut short after he was accosted not far from the Brevett home. Lloyd Brevett's musical legacy cannot be understated, although his name sometimes does not get as much mention as other Skatalites members. Lloyd was introduced to the bass at a young age, as his father was one of ...

Later that year the song, in a longer unedited form, was on the album The London Chuck Berry Sessions. The Average White Band members guitarist Onnie McIntyre and drummer Robbie McIntosh played on the single. 'My Ding-a-Ling' was originally recorded by Dave Bartholomew in 1952 for King Records. When Bartholomew moved to Imperial Records, he re-recorded the song under the new title, 'Little Girl Sing Ding-a-Ling'. In 1954, The Bees on Imperial released a version entitled "Toy Bell."
